23 Aug ‘Old school’ paper a thing of the past
Less than three days after hitting the EMR ‘on’ switch, paper has already become a thing of the past for West 3 at Dandenong Hospital.
West 3 Nurse Manager Rachel Morrissey said her team had embraced the move to electronic records, with clinicians commenting on how much easier the system makes their day-to-day practice.
“We love having the EMR up and running,” said Rachel. “The time we save using the EMR, as opposed to recording in and referring to paper records, is significant.”
“Now when we need to record on paper, we find ourselves thinking – remember paper, that ‘old school’ thing we used to use!”
Rachel said that on the occasion that her team had a question about using the system, help was just around the corner.
“Of course, there have been little issues here and there, but there’s been nothing that a Super User couldn’t help us with.”
West 3 was one of the first wards to go live with the EMR, making the transition on Day One.
“It’s already hard to remember life before EMR,” said Rachel. “It’s been really exciting to be a part of.”
