Historic Monash Health Cardiology Reports now available in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Please read about the key changes below

Since 2nd September 2021, Monash Heart cardiology reports generated by HealthTrack have been available in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Copies of the cardiology reports have continued to be sent to Scanned Medical Record (SMR).

What is happening?

Starting 20th October 2021, new reports generated by Monash Heart cardiology will no longer be sent to SMR. This is for all Monash Health sites.

Copies of Monash Heart cardiology reports dating back 2 years will be migrated into the EMR and viewable in the patient chart in the “Documents” tab of the Results Review section.

Access to reports prior to 20th October 2021 will still be available in SMR.

Highlights

The rationale for Report Migration into EMR, and stopping copies going to SMR are:

  • Standardising towards a single clinical data repository in the EMR for reviewing all Cardiology related information;
  • Current preparations for enhanced EMR functionality for the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH) will mean some of HealthTrack functions are taken up by the EMR. Importing the cardiology documents means clinicians only need to view information in one place;
  • Allows automated updates of amended and ‘in-errored’ documents; and
  • Improved clarity, visibility and access for all clinicians.
