18 Jan EMR device update
As we get closer to Go-Live, the devices our people will use to access our new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system have been chosen.
These include:
- Workstations on Wheels
- Computers on benchtops and trolleys
- Tablets
- Portable scanners and label printers
- Theatre tracking boards
How we chose the devices
We’ve conducted a significant amount of research and consultation to make sure the devices we choose will support and enable safe patient care.
This included working with over 100 clinicians, specialist employees and consumers to find out what works best.
This group assessed multiple devices, from different vendors, to determine if they were fit-for-purpose, using criteria specific to their function and workflows. The vendor also gave us advice on the most suitable devices for each area, based on EMR device delivery in similar workspaces.
We have selected devices with a focus on improving efficiency, consistency and patient safety across workflows.
Ultimately, the devices will give our people improved access to patient status and communications, and support a collaborative, efficient and patient-centred approach to care.
Where you can see the devices
The devices will be installed at Dandenong Hospital, with other sites to follow. You can view and trial the devices at EMR Interactives.
